Outer Banks Wedding and Family Photography | Laura and Damien

Happy Tuesday everyone!!!

Each year we have the exciting opportunity to shoot school portraits in our small Outer Banks community. It is a job we are very honored to be given the opportunity to work. And, it is a whole heck of a lot of fun working with the kids. Through the years that we have been working with the school, we have gotten to know many of the local families that we might not have otherwise have ever had the chance to meet. These amazing families have given us many smiling faces and some pretty awesome local OBX family portraits. But, this year one of these school-portrait relationships translated into a Wedding and the introduction to some very dear people…we now call friends.

I received a call from Laura stating that she was looking for a photographer to capture her wedding in Duck, North Carolina mid April 2014. She was a sweet, soft-spoken woman with an obvious gentle spirit. We were able to work through the details and met Laura, her fianc√©, Damien, their two beautiful children, and Laura’s parents and sister at the home of the officiant performing the ceremony. After a quick signing of documentation and prepping of everyone’s wedding attire we made the short (I mean, err…long) walk to the beach.

The wind and chill in the air was no match for this amazing family. Ok…let’s be honest… I’ve never shot a wedding that I walked away from saying, “Oh, dear. They didn’t love each other.” Love is always in the air when beach wedding bells are ringing. ūüėČ But…really…really… this family screamed Love…the whole family. So much so that I don’t think one person noticed the chill bumps or blowing sand. Awesome. It really was.

I believe that each individual we cross paths with in life is a part of the whole…a piece of each of us. I believe that we cross paths and lives and journeys for all different reasons. The reason we had the chance meeting of this beautiful family, I do not know. But, what I do know is that my life was touched and encouraged by these souls. Thank you, Laura and Damien, for inviting me into your life. And, thank you, Deborah for the introduction. In the end, all we have is love and how we share it. These people seem to spread love everywhere they go… They are as beautiful on the inside as the out. Laura and Damien, wish you a continued and long journey of happiness throughout your lives.
