I hope each of you have had an awesome long weekend! We have enjoyed incredible weather here in the Outer Banks this week. 🙂
As we are winding-down our crazy May, I am hoping to introduce you to each of our April and May Newlyweds! Today, we will start with Sarah & Andy from the southern state of Florida!! We had the opportunity to meet Sarah and her family at the Outer Banks Wedding Association Expo this past year…And, I have to admit that I simply fell head over heels in love with this girl. She was sweet, beautiful and a total smarty!! So, I wasn’t at all surprised to find Andy as equally awesome!
The story of these two love birds began in Omaha, Nebraska where Sarah and Andy were both on assignment for the engineering firm for which they both work. Sarah says that after the first home-cooked meal that Andy made…she was hooked. When asked about the engagement Sarah tells us that Andy gave her a basket full of gifts. She wrote:
“I began to open them and unwrapped the perfume, Daisy by Marc Jacobs, which I always illuded to would be my wedding day perfume, a unity sand globe, the first flowers he ever gave me (dried), and a framed hand written poem of our life together. I read it out lout and began to tear up! The end of the poem asked me to marry him, which of course I said yes! He then showed me a slideshow he made of all our pictures of traveling together over the past year. It was amazing, and then we went to the beach and spent the most beautiful weekend taking it all in.”
Soooooooo…not only is this guy too cute, an awesome cook, and a smarty! He’s also a creative-romantic! <3
Sarah and Andy chose the Outer Banks of North Carolina as their destination wedding location because they were set on a beach wedding, love North Carolina, wanted a “destination” location, and most of their friends and family were within driving distance of these beautiful beaches 🙂 Lucky us!!
The beautiful Outer Banks day started for us at a Nags Head vacation home. We met Sarah, Andy, and the entire wedding crew at the home to snatch a few images of hair and make-up prep (by Bombshells Studios) and fun getting ready images.
Sarah and Andy opted for a First Look before the wedding ceremony. The couple wanted a quiet space for just the two of them to spend a few special moments together before the excitement and energy of the wedding crowds. With the gentle influence from the mother of the bride, whom is a huge lighthouse fan, we decided on the Bodie Island Lighthouse in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, South Nags Head as Sarah and Andy’s First Look venue. It truly was beautiful…
After Sarah and Andy’s First Look, Andy and his super fun group of Groomsmen headed to the pier in preparation for the wedding ceremony. The Ladies…well, they had a little time to kill. 😉 So, they (umm…we) made a quick pitstop at one of the Outer Banks Locals’ favorite spots…Sam and Omies.
The 120+ person wedding was staged indoors at the beautiful Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head, North Carolina by Beth Pallette of Engaging Events. Tony Joseph of I Do OBX Weddings was the officiant that had the privilege of making these two individuals and forever-team <3 And, all of the flowers, table decorations, cakes, weddings guest gifts and adorable chocolates were created by Sarah’s very crafty Mom and Aunt (how lucky!!!).
Donning tangerine and navy blue, the wedding party was stunning against the gold tones of the Pier and the deep blues of the beautiful OBX shoreline. We had a blast with this energetic, sometimes-crazy, super fun wedding party! Each member was full of personality and had zero problems showing it off 😉
As the evening progressed, the rain set-in. But, that did anything but keep this crowd from celebrating these two wonderful people! Thanks to the awesome catering of Kelly’s Restaurant and Tavern and Karl with Coastal DJ and Video (who rocks, by the way), this party started quickly…and jammed late into the night.
A bubble send-off said good-bye to the beautiful couple…sending them honeymooning in Hawaii! 😉
I fall in love with so many of our brides, grooms, their friends, and families. This Outer Banks Wedding group is no exception. Thank you Sarah and Andy for choosing Sarah Keenan Photography and Design to be part of your most special day. We had an awesome experience! And, wish you many, many years of continued happiness and love!
Until Next time (watch for Sarah’s Outer Banks Trash the Dress Session coming next!)~
